The Association of Swiss Commercial and Investment Banks was founded on 30 January 1981. Its main aims are as follows:

• to give its members a voice in matters of banking policy
• to represent its members’ shared interests in the governing bodies and committees of the Swiss Bankers Association
• to play a part in shaping political opinion

 
The Association comprises 29 banks and represents their interests. With some 10,000 staff between them, these banks account for a tenth of the overall Swiss banking workforce. They have assets under management worth CHF 600 billion.

Independant commercial banks and banks that specialise in Stock exchange, securities and asset management business that are Swiss-controlled and under Swiss law may join the Association. Membership of the Swiss Bankers Association is a prerequisite.

The Association is represented on the Swiss Bankers Association’s Board of Directors and the Committee of the Board of Directors as well as in many other banking-sector bodies (committees, working groups).
